Buckled Wheel Repair Cost: What You'll Pay and Why

Buckled wheel repair at Vantom costs £96 per wheel. Many repairs can be done while you wait at our Congleton workshop. Here's what that price covers, what can add to the bill, and how repairing compares with replacing the wheel.

What the £96 buckled wheel repair cost includes

For each wheel, our buckle repair covers:

  • A full inspection for cracks and other damage before any work starts
  • Measuring the runout, so we know exactly where the buckle is and how big it is
  • Controlled straightening of the distorted area, done in-house
  • Re-checking and balancing before the wheel is refitted

If a wheel isn't safe to straighten, we'll tell you before doing the work, not after.

What can add to the cost

More than one buckled wheel

A big pothole often catches the front and rear wheel on the same side. Each wheel is priced separately at £96, so it's worth having both checked after a heavy hit.

A crack as well as a buckle

An impact that bends a wheel can also crack it, often on the inner barrel. If we find a repairable crack, crack repair is £96 per crack. Some cracks, such as those in the spokes or near the hub, mean the wheel should be replaced instead.

Had a pothole or kerb hit? Get the wheel checked before the damage spreads to the tyre. We straighten buckled wheels at our Congleton workshop, often while you wait. Book an alloy wheel buckle repair or call 0330 133 8719.

Cosmetic damage

Straightening fixes the shape of the wheel, not its finish. If the same impact left kerb rash or scrapes, you might want the wheel refinished too. Powder coated refurbishment is £90 per wheel and diamond cut £144 per wheel, with face welding for deep gouges at £36 extra.

A damaged tyre

If the tyre has a bulge or cut in the sidewall, it needs replacing whatever happens to the wheel. A bulge means the internal structure is damaged, and it isn't safe to keep driving on it.

Buckle repair vs a new wheel

New wheel prices vary hugely from car to car, and genuine manufacturer wheels can cost a great deal more than a repair. If you want to compare, ask your dealer for a price for the exact wheel. In most cases where the wheel is structurally sound, straightening it is the more cost-effective option.

Replacement is the right answer when the wheel is bent too severely, has been straightened before, or is cracked somewhere that can't be safely repaired. We'd rather tell you that than sell you a repair we don't believe in.

Is it worth repairing straight away?

Leaving a buckle doesn't save money. It wears the tyre unevenly, can cause a slow puncture and puts extra strain on suspension parts. A £96 repair now is usually cheaper than a repair plus a new tyre later. If you're not sure whether it's buckled, read how to spot alloy wheel damage.

Getting an accurate price

To help us quote, send us:

  • which wheel or wheels are affected
  • what you've noticed: vibration, air loss, a pressure warning or pulling
  • a few clear photos, including any kerb damage
  • the car make and model

We'll confirm the price once we've inspected the wheel. See our alloy wheel buckle repair in Congleton page, or read how our while-you-wait buckle repair works.

Quick answers

Can a buckle be repaired the same day?

Often, yes. Many buckle repairs are done while you wait, depending on the damage.

Does buckle repair fix kerb damage?

No. Straightening corrects the shape. Kerb damage is fixed with a refurbishment, which can be done at the same time.
