Really happy with the service. Very clear at explaining what needs to be done, any issues they found , and all the process needed. All the staff I spoke to were all friendly and happy to explain as well as answer questions. So much so I'm thinking of taking more work to them with my son's car and will recommend to friends because of how good they were

Really professional service. Worked on my calipers. Removing old paint and starting afresh and a really professional job. Aside from the quality of work, what set them apart was going the extra mile to keep me updated at every stage. Wish I’d found them earlier.

Alloy Wheel Diamond Cutting

Diamond cut alloy wheel repair at our Congleton workshop costs £144 per wheel or £576 for four. We re-cut the face on our own CNC lathe in-house, then lacquer it to protect the bright machined finish. Each wheel is assessed first, because a wheel can only be re-cut a limited number of times.

Diamond cut wheels have a thin layer of bare, machined aluminium on the face, sealed under clear lacquer. Paint can't recreate that finish. Once the lacquer is chipped or the face is kerbed, the only lasting fix is to machine a fresh face and seal it again.

Whether you call it diamond cut alloy repair, diamond cut alloy refurbishment or a diamond cut wheel refurb, every wheel goes through the same process below. Full sets get diamond cut wheel refurbishment, and single kerbed wheels get diamond cut alloys repair to match the other three. If you're searching for diamond cut wheel repair near me in South Cheshire or North Staffordshire, our Congleton workshop is close by.

Signs your diamond cut wheels need repair

  • Kerb rash on the machined face or rim edge
  • White, cloudy or "spider web" corrosion creeping under the lacquer
  • Lacquer peeling or flaking off the face
  • One wheel damaged and no longer matching the other three

Corrosion under diamond cut lacquer keeps spreading. Repairing early leaves more metal to cut and keeps the cost down.

Our diamond cut repair process

Every diamond cut wheel goes through the same seven steps at our Congleton workshop. These photos are from real jobs.

Step 1: Wheels and tyres off at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

1. Wheels and tyres off

Tyres are removed so the whole wheel can be prepared.

Step 2: Assess at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

2. Assess

We check the depth of damage and signs of previous re-cuts to confirm the wheel can be cut again.

Step 3: Strip and repair at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

3. Strip and repair

The wheel is stripped to bare metal. Kerb damage is repaired and deep gouges can be face welded (£36 extra).

Step 4: Sandblast and coat at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

4. Sandblast and coat

The wheel is blasted and powder coated in its base colour.

Step 5: CNC diamond cut at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

5. CNC diamond cut

The face is profiled and cut on our in-house lathe to a bright machined finish.

Step 6: Finished diamond cut alloy wheel with no tyre, lacquered and cured, at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

6. Lacquer and cure

Clear lacquer seals the cut face against moisture and salt, then it is oven cured.

Step 7: Refit and balance at Vantom diamond cut workshop, Congleton

7. Refit and balance

Tyres refitted, wheels balanced and refitted to your car.

When a wheel can't be diamond cut

Every cut removes a small amount of metal. A wheel may not be suitable for another cut if it has been re-cut several times before, the damage or corrosion is too deep, or the face design doesn't suit cutting. In that case we'll recommend a powder coated refurbishment in a matching colour instead, at £90 per wheel.

Diamond cut wheel repair cost

Service Price
Diamond cut refurbishment, up to 23" £144 per wheel · £576 for four
Face welding for deep gouges £36 extra
Buckle repair before cutting £96 per wheel
Powder coated refurbishment instead £90 per wheel · £360 for four

Diamond cut refurbishment is £144 per wheel or £576 for four, including tyre off and on and balancing. It costs more than powder coating because each wheel is machined on a lathe and lacquered. Pick the base colour from our wheel colours and finishes. Buckled diamond cut wheels can be straightened first for £96 per wheel. See every price on one page: alloy wheel refurbishment prices.

Diamond cut wheel questions

Can diamond cut alloys be repaired?

Yes, in most cases. The face is re-cut on a CNC lathe and re-lacquered. Painting over a diamond cut face won't match the machined finish.

How much does it cost to repair a diamond cut alloy?

£144 per wheel or £576 for four at our Congleton workshop.

How many times can a wheel be diamond cut?

Only a limited number of times, because each cut removes metal. We assess every wheel before cutting.

Can you repair just one diamond cut wheel?

Yes. We cut it to match the others as closely as possible. If the other three are tired, the new one can stand out, and we'll tell you honestly if a full set makes more sense.

FAQs

What Is Diamond Cutting For Alloy Wheels?

Diamond cutting alloy wheels is a precision process that uses a CNC lathe to machine the wheel’s face, leaving a smooth, polished, and reflective finish. This process restores the factory look of diamond cut wheels and enhances their visual appeal.

How Do I Know If My Wheels Are Diamond Cut?

You can identify diamond cut alloy wheels by their shiny, polished face and fine lines visible under the lacquer. If the surface looks similar to brushed metal with a different colour behind, it’s likely a diamond cut finish. Visit our Congleton workshop, and we’ll confirm whether your wheels are diamond cut.

Can Diamond Cut Alloy Wheels Be Repaired?

Yes, diamond cut alloy wheel repair restores damage such as kerb rash, corrosion, and light scuffs. However, wheels can only be diamond cut a limited number of times because each cut removes a small layer of metal.

How Long Does Diamond Cutting Take?

Next-day turnaround is standard for diamond cut wheel refurbishment. At Vantom, we offer a fast, high-quality turnaround with precision CNC diamond cutting for customers across Cheshire, Congleton, Macclesfield, and surrounding areas.

What’s The Difference Between Painted And Diamond Cut Wheels?

Painted alloy wheels have a full colour coat applied, while diamond cut alloy wheels are part-painted and part-machined to achieve a polished finish. Diamond cutting provides a premium, mirror-like appearance often seen on high-end vehicles.

How Much Does Diamond Cut Alloy Wheel Repair Cost?

Diamond cut wheel repair costs £144 per wheel or £576 for four. For an exact quote, contact Vantom in Congleton, we provide transparent pricing for all diamond cut refurbishment services in Cheshire.

How Can I Protect My Diamond Cut Wheels From Future Damage?

Regular cleaning and applying a ceramic coating can help protect diamond cut wheels from corrosion and brake dust. Avoid harsh chemicals and jet-washing close to the wheel face to extend the life of your diamond cut finish.
