Mobile Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair Near You

A buckled or bent alloy wheel can make a vehicle uncomfortable to drive and can sometimes be difficult to diagnose without checking the wheel properly.

Common symptoms include:

• Steering wheel vibration
• Vibration through the seat or vehicle
• Shaking at certain speeds
• A wheel that repeatedly requires balancing
• Visible movement or distortion when the wheel rotates
• A flat spot on the inner or outer rim
• Uneven tyre wear
• Problems appearing after hitting a pothole

Our mobile wheel straightening service allows us to come to you and inspect the wheel for distortion.

Where suitable, we can then straighten the buckled alloy wheel at your location.

How Much Does Mobile Alloy Wheel Buckle Repair Cost?

Our mobile alloy wheel buckle repair callout is £144.

We come directly to an agreed customer location with our mobile wheel straightening equipment.

The vehicle needs to be parked somewhere safe, legal and suitable for us to work, with sufficient space around the vehicle and our equipment.

If you are unsure whether your location is suitable, send us your postcode and we can check before arranging the appointment.

What Causes an Alloy Wheel to Buckle?

Potholes are one of the most common causes of buckled alloy wheels.

When a tyre hits a pothole or road defect, a large amount of force can be transferred through the tyre and into the alloy wheel. This can distort the inner or outer rim of the wheel.

Large-diameter alloy wheels fitted with low-profile tyres can be particularly vulnerable because there is less tyre sidewall available to absorb the impact.

Other causes can include:

• Hitting a kerb
• Driving over road debris
• Speed bumps or raised road surfaces
• Previous accident damage
• Heavy impacts to the wheel or tyre

A buckle isn't always obvious by looking at the wheel while it is fitted to the vehicle.

In many cases, the first thing the driver notices is a new vibration after hitting a pothole.

Can a Buckled Alloy Wheel Cause Vibration?

Yes.

A buckled alloy wheel is no longer perfectly round. As the wheel rotates, the distortion can create movement that is felt through the vehicle.

Depending on where the buckle is located, you may notice vibration through the steering wheel, floor or seat.

However, vibration does not automatically mean that an alloy wheel is buckled.

Wheel balancing, damaged tyres, suspension components and other mechanical issues can produce similar symptoms.

This is why the wheel needs to be properly checked rather than diagnosing a buckle from vibration alone.

How Our Mobile Wheel Straightening Service Works

1. Contact Vantom

Send us your vehicle details, postcode and information about the problem.

Photos or a short video can also help us understand the damage before attending.

2. We arrange your mobile callout

We'll arrange a suitable time and location for our mobile unit to attend.

3. We inspect the wheel

The alloy wheel is checked for distortion and other visible damage.

We assess whether the wheel is suitable for straightening before carrying out the repair.

4. The buckle is straightened

Suitable wheel buckles are carefully corrected using specialist alloy wheel straightening equipment.

The process applies controlled pressure to the affected area of the wheel to reduce the distortion.

5. The wheel is checked again

After straightening, the wheel is checked again to determine how successfully the distortion has been corrected.

Can Every Buckled Alloy Wheel Be Straightened?

No.

Although many buckled alloy wheels can be repaired, there are situations where straightening may not be appropriate.

The condition of the wheel needs to be assessed before repair.

A wheel may require additional assessment if we find:

• Severe distortion
• Multiple damaged areas
• Significant structural damage
• Previous poor-quality repairs
• Damage that makes straightening unsuitable

We won't simply attempt to straighten every wheel.

If we believe a wheel is unsuitable for buckle repair, we'll explain this after inspecting it.

What If My Buckled Alloy Wheel Is Also Cracked?

A hard pothole impact can sometimes cause an alloy wheel to become both buckled and cracked.

If we discover a repairable crack while carrying out your mobile buckle repair, we can also repair and weld the cracked alloy wheel from our mobile van during the same visit.

An additional crack repair costs £96.

This means a suitable wheel that is both buckled and cracked can potentially be straightened and welded without requiring a separate visit to our Congleton workshop.

The wheel will always be assessed before repair. If the damage is unusually severe or we believe the wheel is unsuitable for repair, we'll advise you accordingly.

Mobile Pothole Wheel Damage Repair

Pothole damage can happen instantly.

You may hit a pothole, continue driving normally and only notice later that the vehicle has developed a vibration.

If this happens, it is worth having both the tyre and alloy wheel checked.

Damage to the inner edge of an alloy wheel can be particularly difficult to see while the wheel is fitted to the vehicle.

Our mobile service gives customers a convenient way to have a suspected buckled wheel inspected without first travelling to our workshop.

There must be enough space to safely operate our equipment around the vehicle.

If your tyre is damaged, punctured or unsafe to drive on, you will need to arrange tyre replacement separately before or after the wheel repair as appropriate.

Mobile Alloy Wheel Buckle Repair FAQs

How much does mobile alloy wheel buckle repair cost?

Our mobile buckle repair callout costs £144 to attend the customer's agreed location.

Can you repair a buckled alloy wheel at my house?

Yes, providing your vehicle is parked in a safe and suitable location with enough room for us to operate our equipment.

Can you come to my workplace?

Yes. We can attend workplaces and business premises where there is permission and a suitable safe working area.

Can you repair a buckled wheel on the motorway?

No. We cannot carry out repairs on a motorway or in an unsafe roadside location.

If your wheel is damaged on a motorway, you will need to arrange recovery or towing to a service station, recovery area or another safe location. We can then attend and carry out the buckle repair there if the wheel is suitable for repair.

Do you replace damaged tyres?

No. Our mobile service is for alloy wheel buckle repair. We do not supply, replace or fit tyres.

If your tyre is damaged or unsafe, tyre replacement will need to be arranged separately.

Can hitting a pothole buckle an alloy wheel?

Yes. Potholes are one of the most common causes of alloy wheel buckles. The impact can distort the inner or outer rim of the wheel.

How do I know if my alloy wheel is buckled?

Common signs include steering vibration, vehicle vibration, balancing problems and visible distortion. However, these symptoms can have other causes, so the wheel needs to be inspected.

Can a buckled wheel be balanced?

Balancing may compensate for differences in weight around a wheel and tyre assembly, but it does not physically straighten a distorted alloy wheel. If the wheel itself is buckled, the underlying distortion remains.

Can you repair the inner edge of an alloy wheel?

Many buckles occur on the inner rim of the wheel. Whether it can be straightened depends on the location, severity and overall condition of the wheel.

Can you repair diamond cut alloy wheels?

A buckle may be straightened on a diamond cut wheel if the wheel is suitable for repair. If the cosmetic diamond cut surface is also damaged, separate refurbishment may be required at our Congleton facility.

What happens if you find a crack?

If a repairable crack is discovered during the mobile buckle repair, we can also weld the crack from our mobile van during the same visit for an additional £96.

How long does mobile wheel straightening take?

Repair time depends on the wheel and the severity of the distortion. We assess the damage before starting and can give you a better indication once the wheel has been inspected.

Do I need to remove the wheel before you arrive?

No. Unless we specifically tell you otherwise when arranging the appointment, the vehicle can be left with the wheel fitted.

Do you offer emergency mobile buckle repair?

Appointments are subject to availability. Contact us with your location and details of the problem and we'll advise you of the earliest suitable appointment.
