Mobile Buckled Alloy Wheel Repair Near You
A buckled or bent alloy wheel can make a vehicle uncomfortable to drive and can sometimes be difficult to diagnose without checking the wheel properly.
Common symptoms include:

Mobile Cracked Alloy Wheel Repair
A hard pothole impact can crack an alloy wheel, often on the inner barrel where you can't easily see it. A common sign is a tyre that keeps losing pressure.
Where a crack is suitable for repair, we can weld it from our mobile van at your location. Every wheel is assessed first. Cracks in the spokes or near the hub, or very severe damage, usually mean the wheel should be replaced, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case.
If a wheel is both buckled and cracked, we can often straighten and weld it during the same visit, without a separate trip to our Congleton workshop.
What Causes an Alloy Wheel to Buckle or Crack?
Potholes are one of the most common causes. When a tyre hits a pothole or road defect, a large amount of force can be transferred through the tyre and into the alloy wheel, distorting or cracking the rim.
Large-diameter alloy wheels fitted with low-profile tyres can be particularly vulnerable because there is less tyre sidewall available to absorb the impact.
Other causes can include:
- Hitting a kerb
- Driving over road debris
- Speed bumps or raised road surfaces
- Previous accident damage
- Heavy impacts to the wheel or tyre
Damage isn't always obvious while the wheel is fitted to the vehicle. In many cases, the first thing the driver notices is a new vibration or a slow loss of tyre pressure after hitting a pothole.
Can a Buckled Alloy Wheel Cause Vibration?
Yes. A buckled alloy wheel is no longer perfectly round. As the wheel rotates, the distortion can create movement that is felt through the steering wheel, floor or seat.
However, vibration doesn't automatically mean a wheel is buckled. Wheel balancing, damaged tyres, suspension components and other mechanical issues can produce similar symptoms, which is why the wheel needs to be properly checked.
How Our Mobile Repair Service Works
1. Contact Vantom. Send us your vehicle details, postcode and information about the problem. Photos or a short video help us understand the damage before attending.
2. We arrange your call-out. We'll agree a suitable time and location for our mobile unit to attend.
3. We inspect the wheel. The wheel is checked for distortion, cracks and other visible damage, and we assess whether it's suitable for repair.
4. We carry out the repair. Suitable buckles are corrected using controlled pressure from specialist straightening equipment. Suitable cracks are welded.
5. The wheel is checked again. After the repair, we check the wheel again to confirm the result.
Can Every Wheel Be Repaired?
No. Many buckled and cracked alloy wheels can be repaired, but some can't. A wheel may not be suitable if we find:
- Severe distortion
- Multiple damaged areas
- Cracks in the spokes or near the hub
- Significant structural damage
- Previous poor-quality repairs
We won't simply attempt every repair. If we believe a wheel is unsuitable, we'll explain why after inspecting it.

We cannot carry out repairs on a motorway or in an unsafe roadside location. If your wheel is damaged on a motorway, you'll need to arrange recovery to a service station, recovery area or another safe location. Once the vehicle is somewhere suitable, we can attend and carry out the repair there, subject to the wheel being suitable.
Please note: our mobile service is for alloy wheel buckle and crack repair. We do not supply or replace tyres. If your tyre is damaged, punctured or unsafe, you'll need to arrange tyre replacement separately.

No. You'll need to arrange recovery to a service station, recovery area or another safe location. We can then attend and carry out the repair there if the wheel is suitable.
Do you replace damaged tyres?
No. We do not supply, replace or fit tyres. If your tyre is damaged or unsafe, tyre replacement will need to be arranged separately.
Can hitting a pothole buckle or crack an alloy wheel?
Yes. Potholes are one of the most common causes of both. The impact can distort or crack the inner or outer rim.
How do I know if my alloy wheel is buckled?
Common signs include steering vibration, vehicle vibration, balancing problems and visible distortion. These symptoms can have other causes, so the wheel needs to be inspected.
Can a buckled wheel be balanced?
Balancing can compensate for differences in weight around a wheel and tyre, but it doesn't straighten a distorted wheel. If the wheel is buckled, the distortion remains.
Can you repair diamond cut alloy wheels?
A buckle or crack may be repaired on a diamond cut wheel if it's suitable. If the diamond cut surface is also damaged, separate refurbishment may be needed at our Congleton workshop.
How long does a mobile repair take?
It depends on the wheel and the damage. We'll give you a better indication once we've inspected it.
Do I need to remove the wheel before you arrive?
No. Unless we tell you otherwise when arranging the appointment, leave the wheel fitted.
